Economics of Iran
Brief History of Iran:
Originally called Persia, Iran has been around since 550-330 B.C. The Persian Empire was known as one the biggest empire's during that time period. The 1979 Iranian Revolution was a very dangerous event because Iranian soldiers captured 52 American hostages for the return of their Shah(King) to face trial in Iran. Later, Ayatollah Khomeini returns back to the country after being exiled for 14 years because of a speech he protested in 1964. When Ayatollah arrived approximately 5 million people showed up to his return. Shah Palavi resides in Eygpt where he later dies of cancer. In 1980, the Iran-Iraq War begins because Saddam wanted the oil fields in Iran. The United States supplied both Iran and Iraq with weapons to win the war. In the end Iran lost the war with Iraq.
Current News:
Young Iranians were arrested for dancing to Pharrell Williams "Happy" song. Laws in Iran prevent women from dancing in public or appearing outside without their head heads being covered.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif believes there is a possibility that there will be a nuclear deal with the United Nations. Iran says that the nuclear energy program are peaceful purposes only.
