Greenland
History- They Believe the first humans that lived in Greenland was in 2500 B.C. There is no record that a European country settled in Greenland until the 10th century which is when the vikings settled on the southern skirts of Greenland. The Inuits who are ancestors of the people who live there today arrived 1200 A.D. The Norse settlements disappeared from Greenland leaving the Inuits as the only people to live there for centuries, but Denmark believed that there were still Norse settlers there so they tried to reclaim the land of Greenland by sending missionaries to Greenland in order to convert the people there back to christianity. When the missionaries arrived in Greenland they did not find any descendants of the Norse Greenlanders so they baptized the Inuits instead and Denmark placed trading ports along the border of Greenland for their own use. Greenland became part of Denmark, Norway. During World War II the Greenlanders became more connected to USA and Canada and less connected to Denmark, but in 1953 Denmark reumed its claim for Greenland. Greenland has had self ruling since 1979 although it is still part of Denmark, but Greenland left the European union becoming the only territory to leave the European union. Greenland was actually named Greenland to attract more settlers because 80% of Greenland is covered in ice.
Current News- The People of Greenland are having trouble finding jobs right now due to the climate change because of global warming. The main export they have is fish and shrimp, but like the shrimps need a cold climate to live in they swam off higher up the globe making it impossible for the shrimp factories and fishermen to do any business when there are only like 5 fish in their coasts. Their population halved since the past century due to lack of work. The suicidal rates have been high since the past decade as well. To their fortune though some researchers found out that all that ice melting isn't so bad after all since they found precious metals and Gems that were buried deep into the ice. This is good news because it means more job opportunities for the Inuit people. The only problem is that the Inuit people might prefer reserving their land and tradition rather than create more job opportunities. If they let industries bring in heavy equipment into their land to mine out these metals and gems it might destroy many habitats for many animals and their traditions might be interrupted by the industries.
